Happenings at Our Lady of Mercy

Thursday, December 13th Adoration Eucharistic Exposition after the 7:30am Mass until 6:30pm Vespers with Benediction

TODDLER TIME Toddlers two years old and older are invited (along with an adult) to play in the parish gym on Friday, December 14th from 9:00-10:30am. Free of charge!

GIVING TREE: As we begin the season of Advent and begin our preparations for Christmas, we also continue a long tradition of helping others in need. Gift tags are still available at the back of the church. We hope that you will stop in and pick a tag or two off the Giving Tree to help an individual or family have a happy and joyful Christmas. Wrapped gifts may be brought in on or before December 17th.

NEW BEGINNINGS is a social support group open to both men and women who have lost a loved one. We will meet for lunch on Wednesday, December 12 at 11:30 am at The D & R Restaurant on Lake Street in LeRoy. Please call Norma Kelly at 494-0301 by Monday, December 10th to make a reservation.

BIBLE STUDY RETURNS: Bible Study classes will begin in January of 2019. For more information contact Gordy Culbertson at 585-813-1006 gordyculbertson@gmail.com.

ADORATION...Please consider giving one hour. You might be able to give one hour a week, or one hour every two weeks, or one hour a month, or even one hour a quarter. Any gift of your time is greatly appreciated and needed in order to keep our parish Adoration going. For those who are unable to participate in other Ministries, Adoration is a PERFECT opportunity to help our parish family by sitting and praying in the church for one hour. Please prayerfully consider this opportunity. Contact Ann Ehrhart 768-4728 for more information.

ROSARY FOR THE END OF ABORTION: Every Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. the Mercedarian Third Order prays the Rosary for the end to abortion, world peace and for the sick or distressed of our parish. Everyone is invited to participate.

THE HOLY ROSARY is prayed Monday through Friday at 6:30 a.m. and on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Please consider coming to Mass early to pray the Rosary with your fellow parishioners.

St. Brigid’s Happenings

THE LADIES OF CHARITY will hold their annual Christmas meeting on Monday, December 10th at the home of Jan Bausch (39 Rochester St.). Please bring two dozen cookies that will be distributed to shut-ins and those who have lost loved ones this year. After a brief meeting we will get these platters ready to go. Thank you for making this ministry possible.

MITTEN TREE CUSTOM: Thirty five years ago (1983) St. Michael’s a Mission Parish started the Mitten Mass. All the children of St. Michael’s participated in the Mass. The children walked down the aisle and placed mittens on the tree to be given to the less fortunate children. The older children did the readings, offertory and took up the gifts. After Mass the Priests and families were invited to a buffet. This was a custom at St. Michael’s until 2007 when the Church closed. This custom is still going strong at St. Brigid. Please be sure to place your donated hats, scarves, and mittens on the mitten tree. All donations are greatly appreciated.

ANGEL TREE: The Ladies of Charity are sponsoring a family for Christmas. Tags for items requested by the family will be available on the tree at the back of the church. Please take a tag, purchase the item, and return the unwrapped gift with the tag by December 16th. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

KRIS KINDL: Please don’t forget to reveal your Kris Kindl prayer partner with a card or small gift. Thank you for your participation! We had over 22 participants this year! What better gift to receive than the gift of prayer!

PRAYER MINISTRY: Anyone is welcome to contact the St. Brigid Prayer Tree. If you have prayer requests, please feel free to call Marian Peck 548-2635 or Cheri Sheridan 748-7248.

GriefShare at St. Brigid's meets this Wednesday at noon (brown bag welcome) and 6:30. This week our topic is “Heaven.” Beverages and light snacks are provided. Call for details if you are interested and new to this program: Marie at 330-6510 or Shirley at 330-0466.
